August 23 - Chopaka

A group of 7 hikers enjoyed the hike up Mt Chopaka. About a 1hr 15 min drive from US border on good gravel road .

New Denver Area

7 members of the Penticton Outdoors Club led by Jerry Monahan spent several days hiking in the New Denver area.

August 13 - Municipal Creek Ridges

Had a look at our favorite ski touring area without its snow cover. Ridge tops 6500 foot elevation.

August 9 - Apex

Nine people took a chance with the weather and enjoyed an abundance of flowers on the way to the top of  Apex. It was quite foggy at first but the sun came out at noon just in time for lunch!

July 30 - Little white mountain exploratory hike

Lovely cool weather, no bugs, Wonderful alpine flowers with lupines at their
peak. 4 of us cleared blockages and renewed trail marking, so it is ready for Saturday August 16

July 26 - Apex mountain and ridges south

7 of us enjoyed cool weather and masses of alpine flowers as we hiked the west side of Apex, and then along the top of Razorback Ridge and the summits of 2 Point Mountain.
Masses of Alpine Flowers were at their peak on the ridges south of Apex Mountain.

July 19 - Sheep Rock

19 of us enjoyed perfect conditions, and alpine flowers at their peak, as we did the pleasant hike to Sheep Rock's western summit.
Fortunately the recent wind storm hadn't brought down any more trees since we had cleared it 10 days ago.

July 12 - Riordan summit and nickel plate lake

A dozen of us climbed to the summit of Mount Riordan, followed the trail by the
5 Pothole Lakes, and dropped down to Nickle Plate Lake: lunching at the Moraine, and then crossing the east end trail.

July 8 - Work party to sheep rock

5 of us had to saw 30 plus fallen trees to clear the trail, but it was worth the effort with cool breezes, clear skies and many early flowers in the alpine areas.

July 6 - tinhorn creek - middle mountain

Today 13 of us met at Tinhorn Vineyard and climbed up the Tinhorn Creek drainage to to the 3400' level (2000' el gain) then traversed Middle Mt and returned to our start via Hester Creek and the lower bench.
We sought out shady spots going up and had cool breezes coming down.
